Cambria Chardonnay “Katherine’s Vineyard” 2017 Santa Maria Valley, California
Katherine’s Vineyard, named for Katie Jackson in 1986, consists of ancient soils with fossilized seashells, shale, limestone and sand, with fog-swept vines that have endured since the 1970s. This unique piece of land thrives in the cool, maritime influences that funnel in from the Pacific Ocean, allowing for the longest growing season in the state.
“Fresh granny smith apples, floral and spice aromas dominate the nose; pink grapefruit, tangerine, citrus blossom, and apple pie flavors are balanced by a bit of wet stone. The oak influence creates a nice mid-palate, yet the wine still shows a balanced acidity that carries through the long finish.”
-Jill Russell, Winemaker
Pair with grilled white fish or chicken with light cream sauces. Would also work well with mushroom risotto finished with lemon infused olive oil and fresh thyme.
